Albufeira do Alto Rabagão (Pisões)
Pisões, Montalegre
About this place
At Pisões, the horizon opens over the water. Pause to look at a landscape transformed by the dam.
An open horizon in the heart of Barroso.
At Pisões, Alto Rabagão opens up the landscape after narrower streets and village centres. The dam and reservoir are part of this territory's modern transformations. Local history is told through these works too, alongside castles, monasteries and old villages.
Choose a permitted stop overlooking the water and leave a few minutes free. Notice the shore, the outline of the hills and the changing light. The plan does not include circling the entire reservoir, entering the dam or booking a water activity. It is a quiet pause to finish the afternoon before returning to your chosen accommodation.

Three details to take with you
- 01
The scale of the water
After Sezelhe, compare the settings of the two reservoirs without confusing them.
- 02
The shoreline
Water levels change the visible ground. Exposed access is not automatically a safe route.
- 03
Human intervention
The dam changed the landscape. Connect this history with the rural life you discovered at the Ecomuseu.
